What Is a Couples Massage?
A couples massage is two massages performed at the same time, in the same room, by two therapists. At Azalea Spa the tables are placed side by side in a private treatment room, so you and your partner stay together for the whole appointment — usually 60 or 90 minutes — rather than being separated into different rooms and reunited afterward.
The most common misunderstanding is that "couples massage" is a specific technique. It is not. It is a booking format. Each person still chooses their own service, pressure level, and session length from the same menu everyone else uses. One of you can book a 90-minute deep tissue session with trigger point acupressure for a chronic shoulder problem while the other books a 60-minute Swedish relaxation massage; we simply stagger the start times so you finish together and walk out at the same moment.
It also does not have to be romantic. A little over half of the side-by-side sessions we book at our West Ave location are friends, mothers and daughters, sisters, or coworkers marking an occasion. Because the room and two therapists have to be held simultaneously, couples appointments are the one booking type we ask you to reserve in advance rather than walking in.

Reserve Ahead
Two therapists plus one room must be free at the same time. Call (210) 499-0229 or text (210) 409-3636 at least a day out — more for Friday and Saturday evenings.
Pick Separately
You do not have to match services. Different styles, pressures, and lengths are fine. Tell us at booking and we will stagger start times so you finish together.
Arrive Together, Early
Come 10 minutes before your slot. Both consultations happen before either session starts, so a late arrival shortens the massage rather than pushing it back.
Upgrade Individually
Add-ons are per person. Energy hot stone or cupping is $15; the deep tissue and trigger point upgrade is $20. One of you can add them without the other.

How much does a couples massage cost in San Antonio?
- Pricing is per person at standard rates, so two 60-minute Swedish relaxation massages come to $160 at member and first-time rates or $220 at regular rates. Two 60-minute deep tissue sessions are $180 member or $240 regular. Package pricing applies the same way.
Do we have to book a couples massage in advance?
- Yes — strongly recommended. A couples appointment requires two therapists and one room held at the same time, which is harder to arrange than a single booking. Call (210) 499-0229 or text (210) 409-3636 at least a day ahead, and further out for weekend evenings.
Can we choose different massage styles?
- Yes. Each person picks their own service, pressure, and session length. One partner can book deep tissue with trigger point acupressure while the other books Swedish relaxation. If the lengths differ, we stagger the start times so you finish together.
Is couples massage only for romantic partners?
- No. Roughly half of our side-by-side bookings are friends, mothers and daughters, siblings, or coworkers. It is simply two people who want to be in the same room. Gift cards for two are a common birthday, anniversary, and Mother's Day purchase.
Do you talk during a couples massage?
- That is entirely up to you. Some couples talk throughout; others prefer quiet. Let your therapists know your preference at the start. Communication about pressure is always encouraged regardless.
